What each app is for

If you are weighing GLO Color Swatch Variant Image vs Rubik Variant Images & Swatch, start with the job you need done. Both apps change how your theme shows the Shopify variants you already have. Neither one adds new options on top of your variants.

GLO Color Swatch Variant Image, from Globo Options, describes itself as a color and image swatch app. It also shows variants on collection pages and groups separate products together. Its feature tags reach past swatches into bundles, tiered pricing, discounts and low stock alerts.

Rubik Variant Images & Swatch, from Craftshift, centers on the product gallery. The listing says it shows only the selected variant’s images and adds image or color swatches to the variant picker. Its tags cover gallery layouts such as carousel, collage, masonry, grid and slider, plus video, image zoom, hover effects and a drag-and-drop editor.

The overlap is swatches, dropdowns, conditional logic, custom CSS, hiding out-of-stock options and stock availability. Both listings carry the Built for Shopify badge. GLO shows 4.9 stars from 1,911 reviews and launched in March 2021. Rubik shows 5 stars from 497 reviews and launched in October 2024. A higher rating does not prove an app is better, and Rubik’s shorter history means fewer reviews to read.

Price and plans in practice

Prices below are as shown on October 26, 2026. Both apps bill in USD every 30 days.

For a small store, GLO’s free plan goes a long way. It covers color swatches, variants on collection pages, hiding sold-out options and 1 product group. If you need more, the paid plans are:

  • Silver at $9.90 a month, or $99 a year (the listing says this saves 17%)
  • Gold at $19.90 a month, or $199 a year (also 17% off)

Rubik’s free plan covers 1 product, so it works as a test on a single listing rather than a setup for the whole store. To use it more widely, you would pay for one of these:

  • Starter at $25 a month, or $200 a year (the listing says this saves 33%)
  • Advanced at $50 a month, or $400 a year
  • Premium at $75 a month, or $600 a year

Every paid plan on both apps has a 7-day free trial. Neither listing shows an intro offer, and neither shows a price that changes with your Shopify plan. This page does not break down what each paid tier adds, so read each pricing card before you upgrade.

Theme support, setup and help

Globo Options states on its listing that the app “works with any Shopify theme” and “works with all themes and filter apps.” The listing does not publish a list of named themes. Its “works with” list includes Globo Product Options, page builder apps and Smart Product Filter & Search.

Craftshift publishes a supported themes list. The developer’s FAQ says the app supports more than 350 Shopify themes, naming Dawn, Prestige, Impulse, Impact, Focal and others. Of the 61 themes Techiepugs covers, the developer’s pages name 58, including Horizon, Dawn, Sense, Empire, Turbo and Debut. If your theme is not on that list, ask the developer before you install. The “works with” list names page builders such as PageFly, GemPages and EComposer, plus ThemeForest themes.

For help, both listings link to an FAQ, a tutorial and app documentation. Rubik’s listing shows live chat and email support on the Free Plan. GLO’s listing says Globo Options provides support but does not state which channels it offers.
