Guides

Shopify guides, written theme by theme.

What Shopify charges, plan by plan, the image sizes Shopify and your theme ask for, and how to set up the theme you actually run. Every number carries the date it was checked, and every setup guide starts from your theme's own settings.

Guide families.

App guide

Color Swatch Pug setup guide

An independent guide to the Color Swatch Pug app: installing it, its theme app embed, fixing missing swatches, removing it cleanly, and where the publisher's support is.

On the way

More families, same checklist.

Each new family reuses the same theme list, so once your theme has a page, every feature guide for it sits one click away.

  • Variant picker styles

Buttons, dropdowns and swatches for size and color options, and which settings each theme gives you.

    Planned
  • Product card badges

Sale, sold out and custom badges on collection pages, theme by theme.

    Planned
  • Collection filters

Getting Shopify Search and Discovery filters to show the way you want in each theme.

    Planned
  • Mega menus

Multi-column menus with images, and the themes that build them in without an app.

How every guide is written.

  1. Check what the theme does on its own

We start with Shopify's own features and the theme's settings, because the route that needs no app and no code is the one that survives theme updates.

  2. Compare the app route

Where an app does the job better, we say which ones document support for that theme and what they cost, with the date we looked.

  3. Write out the code route

For people comfortable in the theme editor, we name the exact files, sections and settings to change, with snippets you can copy.

  4. Date every page

Each guide carries the date it was last checked against the theme. Themes change, and a guide that does not say when it was right is hard to trust.
