In more detail.

What each app is for

Both apps add option fields to your product pages beyond what Shopify variants give you. Think of a jewelry store that needs an engraving text box, or a print shop that needs a file upload. Neither app replaces your variants. Each one adds fields next to them.

When you compare King Product Options, Variants vs Ymq Product Options, Variants, the overlap is large. Both listings show the same 13 feature tags: checkboxes, swatches, dates, dropdowns, file upload, multi-select, numbers, radio buttons, custom text, custom CSS, custom HTML, size charts and variants display. The developer is shown as Ymq on one listing and YMQ on the other, both with the location CN.

The difference is pricing logic. King Product Options describes itself as a free options app with option templates that works with drawer carts and the Buy it now button. Ymq Product Options describes itself as an options builder with 30+ option types, option pricing and volume discounts. Its listing adds six tags the other does not have:

  • Conditional logic
  • Gift wrap
  • Custom pricing
  • Dynamic pricing
  • Add-ons
  • Tiered pricing

If you never plan to charge extra for an option, the shared features may cover what you need.

Price and plans in practice

On October 26, 2026, King Product Options was listed as Free, with one plan and no paid tiers. A small store pays nothing. The listing shows no trial because there is nothing to trial.

Ymq Product Options has four plans as shown on the pricing card:

  • Free: unlimited option sets, products and orders, with 16 option types
  • Basic: $9.99 a month
  • Advanced: $16.99 a month
  • Plus: $26.99 a month

Each paid plan comes with a 14-day free trial. Charges are billed in USD, and recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days. The listing does not show an intro offer, and none of the prices depend on your Shopify plan. A small store could start on the free plan. If it later needs option types outside the free 16, the Basic plan would cost about $120 over a year. The facts we read do not say which features sit on each paid tier, so check the pricing card before you rely on a specific feature.

Ratings as shown: King Product Options has 4.7 stars from 493 reviews, and Ymq Product Options has 5 stars from 423 reviews. Both review counts are of similar size, so the rating gap alone tells you little about which app fits your store.

Theme support, setup and help

The King Product Options listing states “Compatible with Online Store 2.0 Themes.” It also carries the Built for Shopify badge. Its “works with” list names Shopify Admin.

Ymq Product Options states nothing about theme support on its listing or on the developer pages we could read. If you run an older theme, ask the developer before you install. Its listing does not carry the Built for Shopify badge. Its “works with” list is longer: Checkout, Shopify Admin, an order export tool for Google Sheets, and several other Ymq apps for B2B and wholesale, bundles, cart drawers and upsells. That may matter if you already use those apps.

For help, each listing says support comes from its developer and links to an FAQ. Both apps are listed in one language. The King Product Options developer page did not load when we checked, so we have nothing from it on setup guides or extra support channels.
