What each app is for

If you are weighing SC Product Options vs Globo Product Options, Variant, you are looking at two apps that do the same core job. Both add option fields to a product beyond what Shopify’s own variant system gives you. That covers text boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, dates, file uploads and paid add-ons.

SC Product Options is the older of the two. It launched on the App Store in December 2012 and was formerly Bold’s. It is now listed under Shop Circle. The listing describes it as a tool for custom fields, file uploads and priced add-ons, with swatches only on the Premium plan.

Globo Product Options, Variant launched in December 2020. The listing says it adds unlimited custom option fields, including swatches, file upload and paid add-ons. It has the Built for Shopify badge on its listing. SC does not.

The feature tags overlap heavily: conditional logic, swatches, custom pricing, setup charges and variant display appear on both. Only SC’s listing tags bulk and tiered pricing, low stock alerts and a list of file types. Only Globo’s tags gift wrap, size charts, dimensions and variant upcharges.

SC shows 4.6 stars from 1,253 reviews. Globo shows 4.9 stars from 5,209 reviews. Both are large review counts, and neither number tells you which app fits your products.

Price and plans in practice

Here is what a small live store would pay on each, as shown on October 26, 2026.

SC Product Options

• The Developer tier is free, but only for development stores. A live store has no free plan.
• Basic costs $14.99 a month, or $149.99 a year. The card describes it as being for collecting extra information from customers.
• Premium costs $39.99 a month, or $399.99 a year. This is the plan that adds priced options, conditional fields, swatches and editing in the cart.
• Both paid plans have a 14-day free trial.

So if you need swatches or paid add-ons on SC, plan on $39.99 a month.

Globo Product Options, Variant

• The FREE plan works on a live store and includes color and image swatch option types.
• PREMIUM showed $4.95 a month for the first three months as a seasonal offer, then $9.90 a month.
• ADVANCED showed $9.95 a month for the first three months, then $19.90 a month.
• Both paid plans have a 14-day free trial.

The intro prices are a limited offer, so budget for the regular price after the first three months.

Both apps bill in USD every 30 days. Neither listing shows prices that change with your Shopify plan.

Theme support, setup and help

On themes, the two developers say very different amounts. SC Product Options states nothing about theme support on its listing. Its developer page did not load when we checked, so we cannot confirm anything from it. If your theme is older or heavily customized, use the 14-day trial to test it before paying.

Globo’s FAQ says the app is built for Online Store 2.0 themes, which covers every theme in Shopify’s current theme store and most themes sold elsewhere.
